After a long wait, she is finally home. Here she is in all her glory.

Almost there!

I've been waiting on my new KTM to be finished for a while now. Ordering parts from all over the world takes time.

She's getting there...

Moving to East Tennessee!

In 2006, I was walking in the door of Buffalo Wild Wings, I saw a brand new Kawasaki ZX-10 parked outside. So my now ex-wife and I sit down next to the table of the owner of the bike outside. We start talking and I told him I owned a SV650, and I was just starting out.

Later on during the conversation, he tells me about a road in North Carolina called the "Tail of the Dragon". 318 curves in 11 miles. I've never heard of it. So I go home, look it up and decided one day I will go.

Months pass. I ended up buying a brand new 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 1000. And what better way to ruin a brand new motorcycle is ride it on that road.

So my wife and I throw the bike in the back of the truck and go. We planned it on a Thursday, left the next day.

I had a great time, rode extremely slow. Even a pickup truck passed me. Didn't crash though. I learned 2 things that weekend. I didn't know how to ride a bike for shit, and I knew one day I would live there.

Here we are 7 years later. I am a little faster, smarter, and divorced.

It's now or never.

So I am going up there with my awesome girlfriend next month and try to find a place to rent. And just move. And finally live out one of my life long dreams. Which is to wake up everyday in motorcycle heaven.

2013 KTM 500 EXC SuperMotard. Making progress....

I saved up and decided to buy a 2013 KTM 500 EXC to convert to another Supermoto.

I called all over the South and I finally found one at Got Gear Motorsports in Jackson, MS.

The day I picked her up:
On the way home!

The first thing I did was get a new seat. The seat on my 505 is like sitting on a 2x4. So I picked up a Seat Concepts seat. It has carbon fiber pattern with orange stitching. I'm pretty happy with it.

Seat installed.

Next thing was to drop the bike off to David at FBI. He was the one to convince me to buy the bike in the first place.

First thing first. Suspension.

I went with the best, which is Ohlins RXF forks:

Ohlins PDS rear shock:

Then since the forks are shorter, and the wheels are smaller, you need triple clamps to put the steering dimensions back to normal. I went with XTRIG triple clamps.

David hold my new clamps!

Everything was going great until this point. Then Beringer Brakes changed iron rotor suppliers or something and delivery was delayed a couple of months.  So the brakes are just coming in. They were mailed from France this week.  Here is a pic of what mine will look like except in black.

Think black.

With the current wheels I had for the bike, which were brand new Carbon Matrix Alpina Supermoto wheels, the rear rim was 5.5" wide. Too wide for the swingarm. So I had to sell them off and buy another set that had a 5" rear wheel.

These are a no go.

The replacement killers.

They are Carbon/Orange Alpina's. Plus they will match my other bike, so I'm not mad.

We also added a Ti full Akrapovic exhaust with a carbon end cap. Pretty trick and light.
Pure sex.

Then I needed a few other things to get done.
  • Reflash ECU w/3 map selector switch. - DONE
  • De-smog the bike. - DONE
  • Powder coat the swing arm gloss black to match my 505.

As she sits now, soon to be rolling:

Things will be wrapping up soon and I'll be picking her up. I'm pretty pumped!
